FAQ

Display of Copyright Holder

For downloaded video materials

The Terms of Use require that you indicate the copyright holder if you want to download and use the video clips from Creative Library. How do you go about it?
Here are four ways. Choose the one most applicable to your production. We recommend that you choose from 2) through 4) only if the logo disappeared from the original material for some reason such as image processing.
(1) Leave the NHK Creative Library logo as is.

写真

(2) Display "Video copyright: NHK Creative Library" on any part of your production where you used the Creative Library's materials.

写真

(3) Include one of the following credit titles at the end of your production as applicable:

Video copyright:NHK Creative Library
(i) If your production is made entirely of materials from the Library, write: "Video copyright: NHK Creative Library".

Images of child elephant, sunset, NHK Creative Library
(ii) If your production uses a mix of materials from the Library and other sources, describe the clips used, e.g., "Images of young elephant and sunset: NHK Creative Library". Please be sure to specify the images in the credit title.

(4) f you cannot include the applicable credit titles as indicated above in your production, then show the credit title in an easily recognizable location (e.g., immediately below or next to the work) on your website, blog, or any venue where you post your work.

For downloaded music and sound effects

How do I show the copyright holder for the use of music or sound effect(s) from the Library?
As with the video clips, show "Music Copyright: NHK Creative Library" and/or "Sound effect Copyright: NHK Creative Library" in one of the ways shown below. The following explanation applies to both music and sound effect materials.
1)Display "Music copyright: NHK Creative Library" on any part of your production where you used the Creative Library's audio materials.
2) Include, at the end of your production or along with the work (e.g., immediately below or next to the video if you present the work on your website or blog), one of the following credit titles as applicable:
  • (i) If the only music material in your production is from the Library, write: "Music copyright: NHK Creative Library".
  • (ii) If your production uses materials from both the Creative Library and other sources, write "xxx music copyright: NHK Creative Library". Fill out xxx to specify where in the video you used music from the Library (e.g., "2nd music piece in the video", "music used between TC 1'30 and 2'15", or "music used in the lion walk scene").

Using DOMO-kun

Can you use the video of DOMO-kun if you show the credit title?

DOMO-kun is a work of joint authorship (NHK and TYO Co., Ltd) and its copyright is, therefore, jointly owned by NHK and TYO Co. Ltd.. For this reason, we ask you to use one of the following two methods to show the credit title when using video of DOMO-kun. The same is required for the use of the Usaji, Ta-chan, Morio, Shinobu and Pukapowa characters. We recommend that you use 2) & 3) only if the credit title " ©NHK・TYO" disappeared from the original material for some reason such as image processing.

  • (1) Leave "©NHK・TYO" as is at the bottom right of the DOMO-kun's video clip.
  • (2) Display "©NHK・TYO" on the DOMO-kun video clip.
  • (3) Include, at the end of the production or immediately next to or below the work, the credit title of "©NHK・TYO"

For any character other than DOMO-kun, state the character's name followed by the credit title (e.g. "Usaji video clip: ©NHK・TYO", "Tah-chan video clip: ©NHK・TYO).

For "Kametta", which is also a work of joint authorship (where the copyright belongs to NHK and dwarf. Co. Ltd.), use the credit title "Kametta video clip: ©NHK・dwarf".

Note: © is a symbol representing the word "copyright".
